Marisol Carrere - Writer / Producer

“I am Julia is dedicated to all the young people who chose to leave this world much too soon, shattered by their tormentors”.

A native of Colombia based in NY, written & produced for “I Am Julia”…caught in the bully's lair (winner 2012 Golden Palm Award – Mexico International Film Festival). The film is inspired by Marisol's personal story. She is doing her part to help raise consciousness and help prevent bullying. Marisol is working on completing the full length script for I Am Julia. She is also developing her next film which tackles other profound social issues.

Film & TV: Conscientious Objector (2012), Holes (2011), Dia De Los Muertos, Dreamers, Crack Down Big City Blues, Guiding Light, Que Le Parece, (Telemundo), PSA for HIV on MTV and Vote For Respect, also You The Juror and Domestic Violence (CT Police department). Marisol appears in various TV Commercials & Print ADs.

Marisol has various nominations and received an ACE Award for he bilingual theater performance: Oh!Yantay (TeatroStageFest 2010 & toured in NY & Peru), won an HOLA Award for her role as Lina in You Always Forget Something/Siempre Se Olvida Algo. Other memorable credits Palabra De Mujer/A Woman's Word, Screaming in Silence from Deyanira Garcia's poetry book on domestic violence, which she also translated. Oedipus Max (Oedipus of L. A. Seneca), Los Sueρos del Coquν, Shadow Theatre with director Puto Wijiwa and Secretos de Mujeres toured PR & NY.

Marisol has worked In collaboration with The Fantastic Experimental Latino, translating & adapting various French & Spanish texts in which she performed as well, including La Pequeρa Cabaρa (ACE Nomination), The Imaginary Invalid and Brief Conversations.

Marisol holds a B.A. in Theatre Arts – Cum Laude from Hunter College and was recipient of an Excellence In Acting Award, studied French and literature in Reims, France. She has worked as a writer for prominent attorneys as a liaison and Biographer, developing narratives reflecting the lives of client's and traumatic situations.

Marisol continues forward on her spiritual journey, defining challenges and searching for harmony & perfectionas as an artist. Professional affiliations include: NYWIFT, SAG-AFTRA, HOLA, NALIP, NOSOTROS & Tribeca Film Institute.

David Capurso - Director

Director, David Capurso is a seasoned actors' director with a strong visual style, which is reflected in his critically acclaimed short films, music videos, and commercials. His latest short film the sci-fi Against The Wall received two Maverick Movie Award nominations and a four and a half star review by FilmThreat. It is licensed now by G4/NBC Universal and distributed by IndieRights and GoDigital on Netflix, Amazon and itunes. His short Psychobabble premiθred at the Big Apple Film Festival in 2010 and it's now distributed by IndieRights. His other short films include Das Boots (in competition at the Big Apple Film Festival 2010) and I am Julia (2011) the story of a young immigrant Colombian girl bullied in a New York City High School.


His student short film, Emily's Song was proclaimed in IndieWire as “one of the best short films” in the short film compilation distributed by CineBLAST! Volume 3 by producer Gill Holland. Although an art-house style film, the short catapulted him to the music video and television commercial market. David has directed commercials for top clients such as Bacardi Rum, Lipton Soup -Unilever, The Clorox Company, HBO Latino, and radio commercials for Tommy Hilfiger. He has had numerous Top-10 music videos on MTV International for Universal Records, Sony Music, Warner Brothers and Palm Pictures, one of which was nominated for a Billboard Award for Best Music Video. David co-produced the Indie features King Returns (in Co-production with Spain) and Stanley Cuba (distributed by York Entertainment). He has directed short films such as Mulholland Ceremonies (shot in Los Angeles), Plumb (starring Duncan Sheik of Melrose Place, and multi Tony Award winner for Spring Awakening. David has also directed live television concerts for the New York City Central Park Summer Stage Series. Currently David is in post production on a feature documentary based on the obscure Jazz vocal scene in New York City.
